Dr. C T Alagappan

Dr. C T Alagappan is a veteran health care professional in the field of Orthopaedics. A retired faculty and HOD from Madras Medical College, Dr. Alagappan holds a wealth of clinical and teaching experience by his side. Inspite of a long innings, Dr. Alagappan nevertheless continues to practise at Chennai Meenakshi Hospital, Mylapore besides running a private clinic at Alwarpet.

To summarize an extensive career in a nutshell, Dr. Alagappan formalized his MBBS and MS (General Surgery) education from Stanley Medical College (Chennai) and further completed MS (Orthopaedics) from Madras Medical College (Chennai). He posted academic success in MBBS examinations with the achievement of Gold Medal in Thoracic Medicine, one of his key career accomplishments. During the progression of his career, Dr. Alagappan later joined Tamil Nadu medical services as Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics and thereby served in various medical colleges across the state. Subsequently in 1983, Dr. Alagappan became a Professor in Orthopaedics at Stanley Medical College followed by years of service that culminated to the post of the Head of Department at Madras Medical College eventually retiring in 1997. With a solid background in medical education, Dr. Alagappan has also rendered his services as an Examiner in Orthopaedics for various universities across India. Inorder to stay medically updated, Dr. Alagappan bridged the gap in technological advances through regular participation in international seminars held in Spain, Germany, Malaysia, Thailand, UK and USA.

In the course of his broad career span, Dr. Alagappan constantly received support in his professional endeavours from his wife Dr. Anandi Alagappan, a Professor in Bio Chemistry and his two professionally settled children who are his pillars of strength.
